Point Pelee - 2006

One of the wettest ever

May 12-15, 2006

Generally, this was one of the wettest trips we've had since I started going back in the late 70's.  It rained every day, sometime hard, and really made the picture taking very difficult.  I think the birding also suffered a bit, with some 154 species seen over the trip.

Merv Cormier travelled with us, and later Pattie's mom, Diane, and sister, Ann, joined us.  Merv's tent demonstrated a tendency to float away in the rainy muck.  His tent heater was probably the only thing that saved his sanity. Even leaving we were stuck with storms until we got to Fredericton.

Eastern Screech-Owl (Otus asio)

Two Eastern Screech Owls were quite reliable at two spots in Tilden Woods.

We had 27 warblers (including a Prothonotary at Rondeau on the 16th), but not many great pictures.  Cerulean was a great find, but it was in the middle of a downpour and of course Merv and I were pointing our cameras straight up into the rain(!)
