This road runs a km or so to Cerro
Chato, a long dormant volcano, and a spot where evacuation would
occur in the event of a major eruption. I guess they expect the road
to the lodge to become impassable, and this road actually doesn't
lead anywhere. They would need to helicopter lift everyone out at
that point.
